Welcome Note

Compassionate Communication is a practice that works when we have the opportunity to apply it in the living moment. CCCO offers those opportunities through online and in-person trainings that help this framework come alive in our varied interactions with partners, family members, friends and colleagues.

Responding to the call for more in-person events, we look forward to the Foundations of Compassionate Communication Training this October. Zach Yocum will facilitate a full-day of exploration and experience in Delaware, OH. From previous trainings, a participant shared about Zach, “[He] provided a truly emotionally safe environment for learning.”

We’re also excited to be putting together our In-Person Community Gathering in the Columbus area. Stay tuned for details about where and when. If you wish to be involved, send an email to info@speakingpeace.org

Saturday, October 17: The Emotions Course for Couples is a practical workshop designed to help couples better understand emotions and develop the skills to work with them effectively, both individually and together.

Wednesdays in November: Join Rob Eames for Self-Connection: Observation as an Insight Practice . Through guided reflection and structured exercises, participants learn how to distinguish between observable facts and the thoughts, beliefs, and interpretations that shape their experience.

Thursdays in November: Self-Empathy Circles are an opportunity to practice a different way of relating to yourself. Many of us have developed a habit of responding to challenges with self-criticism, judgment, or avoidance. In this group, you’ll learn practical skills for understanding your experiences with greater curiosity, compassion, and clarity.

To change the habits Rosenberg talks about, we need to know more about ourselves and others. A key component of NVC is becoming more precise with our understanding of what we feel and need. Luckily, the Center for Nonviolent Communication has created a handout with a list of common feelings and needs to help us refine what we are sharing with others in our lives.

In our work to make NVC more accessible, each of our offerings has three different pricing options: subsidized, sustaining, and supportive to others. We encourage you to pay at the level that feels right for you.
